Have you ever wished that you could enter the book that you were reading and be a part of the story? Well, that’s what this kid named Bastian did. Now, you might be wondering if he did it in a good way or in a bad way, but I’m not going to tell you that because that is the whole point of the book.
It all starts when Bastian runs into a shop because he is being bullied. He gets into a conversation with the owner. The telephone rings. He sees a book on the chair where he had been sitting. You know that feeling when you just have to do something? Well, that’s how Bastian felt with the book. He felt like he just had to go and get it, no matter what consequences he would have to face if he was charged with taking the book. He wanted to get it.
It was a school day, so he got there earlier than all of the kids and went up in the attic with his book to read it. Bastian read along, and he felt like he was physically in the book. He was with a green-skinned person named Atreyu who was going on a quest to bring back someone who could give the child-like empress a name. The empress is the person who created all of Fantastica. She was sick and needed a new name to get well. Without one, she would die. And if she died, then all of Fantastica would die. So, Bastian went with Ateryu from monsters that can kill you all the way to wind giants who battle for strength and kill anyone who gets caught in their storm. Bastian felt all the feelings there possibly could be when he was with Ateryu. He even cried once.
All of a sudden, Bastian realizes that Ateryu is looking for a human, and Bastian knows that he can give the child-like empress a name. Will he make it in time or will that be the end of Fantastica?
